Introduction

Lately there has been a large debate around the lack of housing for both foreign and Danish students,  as well as scientists. Attractive housing and environment is regarded as an important competitive advantage in the international competition to attract and attain highly skilled international students, trainees and young scientists.

Therefore the first project, which the association is initiating, is a pre-study to the project Copenhagen Campus. The aim of this pre-study is to map the need for the establishment of a Campus in Copenhagen, where it should be situated and how to finance such a project. Copenhagen Campus must be a sustainable project as in environmental as well as in financial terms.

To establish a campus in Copenhagen, which will be available for Danish and foreign students from all of the educational institutions in greater Copenhagen will be a break-through project in Denmark and will emphasise Copenhagen’s ambition of being a Northern European metropol.

The assumption is that by establishing a campus as we know from abroad, which shall be dedicated to a mix of foreign and Danish students, as well as young scientists and young trainees, a new city environment will be created with a lot of young people and business life. Through this we assume that a high degree of integration will take place and hereby will enable us to attain a larger part of the talents which our educational institutions attract. An important condition for the future wealth of Denmark.

The project is supported by our Partners and is included in the official agreement for Kickstart Copenhagen, (pp. 7-8) by the City Council of Copenhagen.
